The 10U East Chiefs continued their success in Suffolk County with a first-place finish in the Eastport Columbus Day Tournament.
The 10U East Chiefs continued their success in Suffolk County with a first-place finish in the Eastport Columbus Day Tournament hosted by LI Sharks Baseball Club. Superb pitching by Colin Doherty, Jack Mulligan and Dylan McHugh, impressive fielding by JoJo Laudisio, DJ Bordi and Aiden Van Nostrand, and powerful hitting through the lineup, helped the team secure the top seed with a 2-0 record on Saturday. They followed up with a 9-4 victory on Sunday against Team Beast Red with 7 hits and a staggering 25 stolen bases to claim their spot in the championship game. The Chiefs won big on Sunday afternoon with a 13-3 mercy rule victory against Team Beast Black. DJ Bordi started on the mound with 7 strikeouts followed by a solid performance and multiple strike-outs from Tyler Baktis. The Chiefs racked up an impressive 15 hits, let by a solo home run from Dylan McHugh and hits from Kieran Connolly, Brady Almeida, DJ, Colin and Aiden. Manager Joe Laudisio and Coaches Bill Van Nostrand and Joe Mulligan are extremely proud of the way the boys played this weekend and are “fired up” for what’s to come!
